Weekly Update: Hodge Podge

While we enjoy bringing you weekly themes to add a bit of flavor, the Hodgepodge weeks are always fun. It's a little of this and a little of that!

My first pick this week stars the newcomer Ria Mizuki in 'Rookie'. This petite babe may be new to AV, but any girl who deep throats is sure to know her way around! Next, when it comes to looking cute, Asuka Morimoto has certainly mastered the art. 1/8/10 - SITE ISSUES RESOLVED

We are proud to announce a major infrastructure upgrade that will completely resolve surf lag problems encountered recently. We added several new servers. We upgraded hard and software. We optimized databases and code. We even dedicated an entire (fully buffed) server to our new fetish film finder to ensure it runs as fast as possible. Not only should browsing be ultra fast now, but it should remain that way with further expansion. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered and appreciate your patience. At ActionJAV we have spent the better part of the last decade striving to be the very best JAV site on the internet. 12/28/09 - PAGE LOAD ISSUES

We are aware that page load times have been relatively slow at peak times after our most recent update. This update has a lot of advanced features and programming that put a major amount of stress on our databases and cold fusion systems. Unfortunately, the demand to use these tools and the new traffic and excitement has caused more stress and prolonged traffic than we initially anticipated. We are working around the clock to get speeds back to normal without removing current site features. Ideally, we would like to improve upon the speeds prior to the update. After thorough testing, we have identified the exact sources of the problems and are working to develop and implement a long term solution to ensure the resumption of fast page loading in the very near future.

In the subsequent days we will upgrade our existing hardware and software. In addition, we will be bringing some new servers online to disperse the load. At that point we can begin to implement a multi tiered solution to fixing the current problems as well as proactively anticipating greater loads in the future. It is our goal to not only do this quickly, but correctly to prevent any further congestion in the future. We plan on thoroughly testing our solution before implementing it across the public and vip network.

It is important to note that our pages and actual content are on different segregated parts of the network. Even though pages may be loading slowly, that has more to do with server hardware and processing systems than bandwidth. So we suggest downloading content for the time being. Download speeds are not affected by the slowing issue we are dealing with. Surfing is most affected. Streaming is also affected because the location and delivery method of the meta-files for the video, not the actual video itself. If pages seem load too slowly for your own patience threshold, we recommended visiting our site at off peak times and setting up a download queue of your desired films.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to presenting a viable solution in the very near future.

12/21/09 - UPDATE NOTES

MEMBERSHIP MERGE

All video types are now available to VIP members. Former DX customers have all the same privileges as VIP members until their 30 day membership expires.  At that point DX customers will have to register as VIP for continued access. 

DIGITAL XPRESS PROGRAM DISCONTINUED

Digital Xpress memberships have been discontinued and are no longer available for purchase.

SITE DIMENSIONS

The site dimensions have been increased in size to reflect the modern standard in screen size resolutions.

NEW FETISHES

We have added a huge amount (80+) of additional fetishes to our movie classification system. We have re-classified our most current movies, but have several thousand to do. If you would like to participate, please read about our new moderator system.

FETISH FILM FINDER 2.0

The Fetish Film Finder has been dramatically upgraded to allow inclusion and exclusion of up to 9 search criteria per individual query. This will allow all site users to find very specific movies quickly and easily. Click here to learn more about it.

NAVIGATION BAR CHANGE

The navigation bars have been improved and now are closer to your right side scroll in your browser.

IMPROVED CROSS BROWSER SUPPORT

All pages on the site have been extensively tested to ensure compatibility with the most recent versions of Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari, and Opera web browsers.

IMPROVED SEARCH ENGINE

We have completely re-designed our search engine to provide the most accurate results possible. We also added functions to highlight sorted terms to ensure the quickest and easiest review of results.

SORT BY MEMBER DOWNLOADS

We now provide the number of downloads associated with all movies. Actresses also have a downloads value which is a sum of all of their movies. Now you can see what movies are the most popular based off of real usage details.

MODERATOR SYSTEM

Our new moderator system is a huge expansion of our former review system. Moderators now have more options of how they can contribute to the site. Most moderators have pre-selected based off of their prior contributions to the site. If you have not been pre-selected, click here for more details.

LAYOUT TWEAKS

Throughout the site you should see minor improvements to the layout. In addition, most images have been re-done to a higher quality and to fit into the new layout.

ARCHITECTURE UPGRADES

This update reflects the many changes to both the disk capacities, bandwidth, and server performance across the entire network. We have had major upgrades throughout the year in an effort to look beyond current needs and plan for next year. Our goal is always to provide more faster and better.

12/17/09 - CONTENT AUDIT

During a content audit to prepare for the coming update, we discovered that 200 movies were online with no content. These movies have been pulled. When content is available and uploaded, the movies will be re-added.

11/20/09 - DATABASE ERROR

In preparation of a coming update we mistakenly published several movies which we not completely ready for our members. These movies were published on October 30th and November 13th. These movies have been removed from the site as they are awaiting content preparation and uploading. For those of you that saw titles that you really want, please be aware we are processing this content as fast as possible and hope to have it ready for publication and on site in the coming weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience and misunderstanding this may have caused.

8/6/09 - REAL MOVIE REVERAL

By popular demand we have reversed our prior choice to phase out real movies in lieu of windows media video. Instead we will continue to release films in both formats.

6/19/09 - REVIEWER PROGRAM STATUS

6/19/09 - UPDATE ISSUES RESOLVED

6/17/09 - UPDATE ISSUE RESOLUTION

Since the major upgrade late last week we have received some error reports. We are working to diligently resolve these issues in a final manner. Please allow us the next 48-72 hours to implement our solutions. Reported problems and status of issues include:

1. Real Video streaming through the external player is not possible for some users. Some reports include navigation cancelled errors and missing components types (ie. text /html;charset=utf-8). We have developed a solid solution to this problem that is currently be prepared for implementation.

2. Safari and Opera incompatibility issues with our embedded real player code. We are currently developing a solution to this issue.

3. Dx reporting issues. We are working to resolve inaccurate usage counts. Our solution will be implemented shortly.

4. Certain download manager incompatibilities. Alternatives are being researched.

As always we appreciate the valued feedback our members provide and strive to provide the best JAV service available. We appreciate your patience and tolerance while these issues are finalized.

6/11/09 - WRAPPING IT UP

Throughout the day we will be finalizing some of the changes needed to wrap up the update.  We will also be activating the new cookie based authentication system across the entire network.  That will take some time.  We appreciate your tolerance and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

6/11/09 - MAJOR UPDATE

For the last several months we have been hard at work behind the scenes at ActionJAV. Today we are proud to launch the beginning of what we think is the largest set of improvements in the long history of our service. The changes to our service are detailed below.

Higher quality movies.

Simply put-double the quality! In a calculated decision to plan for a new age of video delivery, we have amped up our video offerings. Our goal is to provide quality high enough to be suitable for home viewing. In that effort, all new releases will be encoded at twice the bit rate-1.5 mbps! We can't just stop at new releases, so with our update today we have replaced nearly the last year worth of video releases with the higher quality content. That is a staggering 1400 titles! We plan to offer all titles we can in higher quality, so read the changes coming soon detailed below for more information.

Change of video format.

Over the years Real Video has been good to us, however, it is time for a change. Windows Media Video, or wmv, format provides a large improvement in quality at a reasonable sacrifice in file size. In a day and age of common high bandwidth internet connections and greater expectations in video quality, we are bound to offer the best quality video available, regardless of size. Most users will not notice the difference in download times. Also, we have gone to great lengths to improve our server network to make sure no one will notice differences in streaming times.

Embedded delivery of movies.

Instead of being a destination to just get your JAV, we want to be a place where you can watch your JAV! In that effort our default option for playing movies is now in a player that is now directly embedded into the title page of the movie. For members that prefer using the external player or have compatibility issues, we also provide links that will launch external applications to play the video. Furthermore, we always offer download links for users that would like to download and play locally.

Cookie based authentication system.

Can you enter your password just one more time? Long time site users know that we have over 50 servers with multiple password protected directories. That means that until now, entering your password across the network could be a huge hassle. Well that just won't do! As long as your browser is enabled to accept cookies, all you have to do is enter your password one time at the beginning of your viewing session. As long as your browser window remains open, you should not be asked for it unless you access external programs. Windows Media Player and Windows Media Player Classic with Real Alternative both accept cookies for authentication. Real Player does not. We highly recommend saying goodbye to Real Player and downloading Windows Media Player Classic with Real Alternative.

Cross browser compatibility.

Microsoft likes to think everyone uses Internet Explorer. We are aware that everyone doesn't and have been working to make ActionJAV compatible with the latest versions of Firefox, Opera, and Safari.

Server architecture upgrade.

To provide higher quality video and more of it, we have had to majorly upgrade our network. Lot's of time, energy and money have been spent behind the scenes to provide the best network possible. We won't go into the technical details, but please know that we have been hard at work to give you the best of the best!

Multiple design changes.

While retaining the overall look and feel of the ActionJAV you have come to know and love, we have made some important adjustments to the behavior of our site. While most changes will not be immediately noticeable, some are unmistakable. The biggest change in this aspect is in the title page of our movies. This page has been tweaked to provide all of the information provided before, plus some, in an easier to use format. This page also supports new features enabling the support of embedded movie delivery.

Increase in Digital Xpress allotments.

We have more than tripled the Digital Xpress allotment with purchase. The amount has been increased from 15GB to 50GB! There has never been a better time to join and download your favorite source AVI files.

Increases in daily VIP limit.

The daily VIP block threshold has been changed to 36GB daily. That is almost triple the old limit.

Better error reporting.

In an effort to improve the quality of the surfing experience at ActionJAV.com, we have created a new anonymous error reporting tool. On movie title pages, you now have an opportunity to send us an error report quickly and with minimal effort on your part. Unlike a support ticket, we do not follow up with customers on these issues. We simply fix the problem.

Changes coming soon:

Re-release of older movies.

Our users love classic JAV! We will be re-releasing a ton of titles from the good ole' days. Lots of the video will be from mpeg source so will be lower quality than we have come to expect, but it's the price we pay for another look at the legends of JAV. This is because the source files mainly come from VCD, which was the DVD predecessor. For titles that have an AVI source as they were released on DVD, we will release in full size WMV!

Replacement of lower quality movies.

For every movie on our site, if we can make a better quality video, we will. Check the updated movie page for updates almost every day. The 1400 titles released today are just the tip of the iceberg. Expect a lot more to come.

12/3/08 - CHANGES TO THE REVIEWER SYSTEM

Our reviewer system just got a whole lot easier to use. You should now be able to review select titles directly from the public site. The sign up process has also been simplified to allow users to spontaneously review a title without waiting through the reviewer screening process. The goal is to get our entire backlog of titles reviewed. We also want to encourage a larger percentage of site users to participate in the program, including casual viewers. The same rigid standards will apply to review approval before they are actually posted on the site, so make sure to read the rules and tips to ensure full credit.

12/1/08 - CREDIT REDEMPTION FIXED

It has been brought to our attention that the credit redemption process was not working correctly in some cases. This has now been resolved. If you feel that you did not receive the proper usage from an account you redeemed, please contact us through the support page. We will research the matter and if we deem your credit account was not created successfully, we will award you the credit you spent to redeem. Thank you for your patience.
